Times for Breakout Sessions are just placeholders. Actual times will not be assigned until early April.
Thursday May 15, 2025 TBA
Many libraries were forced to innovate and develop new online instructional offerings over the last couple of years. Academic librarians had to create or re-envision online instructional materials and ways to teach information literacy learning outcomes through different mediums. This conference presentation will walk attendees through the goals of the online instructional videos, how the content was created, and the design of the social justice internship program. The panel will include MLIS students who worked on the social justice online instruction series, and they will share best practices, challenges, and lessons learned throughout the internship process.

Annie Pho, University of San Francisco, co-created this presentation.

Participants will be able to:
1. Understand the application of critical pedagogy and UDL principles to online library instruction;
2. Define the successful components of a meaningful and paid MLIS internship program;
3. Identify potential ideas for creating online instructional videos at their own libraries.
