A mid-career subject librarian from a large research university will discuss her library’s week-long intensive library and information literacy training program for faculty and teaching assistants. UCLA Library's Information Literacy Institute emphasizes pedagogical approaches to incorporating information literacy concepts into course curricula, encourages collaboration between course and library instructors, and promotes the inclusion of library services and collections in lesson plans, assignments, and syllabi. This presentation will include an overview of the Institute's seven member planning team, our process, curriculum, and a discussion of ways that libraries of various sizes can adopt similar approaches to faculty and course engagement.
Participants will: 1. Learn about a scalable model for teaching information literacy concepts to course instructors. 2. Acquire strategies to adapt this scalable model to the unique context of their own institutions.
